PagePilot Viewer Help

This manual is not meant to be read from top to bottom. Use it when you need to understand a concept, find the right starting point for a goal, or check the meaning of a setting on a specific screen.

If you are preparing PagePilot for the first time, the easiest path is: create a setlist, gather scores and audio, adjust each song's timeline and display settings if needed, then verify the flow in the score viewer before the show.

PagePilot Viewer is designed primarily for use on tablets, and it can also be used on iPhone and Android smartphones.

How to Use This Manual

In the current app version, in-app Help search shows Japanese articles even when the app language is English. Use the English manual on the public website when you need English instructions. English pages exist, but locale-aware in-app retrieval is not implemented yet.

Core Concepts

PagePilot uses a few related terms with different responsibilities. Once these are clear, it is much easier to know which screen to open.

• Score: the material you read visually, such as a PDF, image, text page, or ChordPro chart. A score can be displayed by itself.
• Audio: an audio file used for playback, such as a backing track, reference track, or click-related material.
• Song: the combination of a score, audio, timeline, and display settings used for a performance. The same score can be reused in differently prepared songs.
• Setlist: the running order for a show or rehearsal. It can include songs as well as memos for MCs, breaks, instrument changes, and other cues.
• Timeline: timing information for a song, including page positions, cues, and tempo references. Use it when you want page turns or progress to follow audio.
• Annotation: handwritten marks on a score, such as reminders, fingering, cuts, or cues.

Find by Situation

• Rehearsal is starting soon: use Setlist Detail to add files or photos, and open Choose Where to Add From if you need to choose the fastest import path.
• You want to avoid mistakes right before a show: check tap zones in Global Settings and control visibility in Score Viewer. If edge taps are risky on your stand, consider turning tap zones off.
• The stage is dark and the score is hard to read: check Appearance, Default Zoom, and color inversion in Global Settings. Try color inversion before the show, because it rebuilds the display cache.
• You want to send only the click to the drummer or in-ear monitor mix: use Mixer Settings to split mixer A/B outputs and levels. If the click and screen timing do not line up, use Output Device Latency.
• You need to give the latest version to bandmates: use Send Song for one song, Send Setlist for the running order, and Receive Share on the receiving device.
• You are moving everything to a new device: use App Data Backup / Restore. Restore replaces the current device data, so it is different from sharing.
• You want to make sure you are not missing useful features: start with "What This App Can and Cannot Do" below.

Find by Goal

• Prepare for the first time: follow Setlist List → Setlist Detail → Score Viewer.
• Add a new song: start from Setlist Detail. If you are unsure what source to choose, see Choose Where to Add From.
• Find prepared songs or imported material: use Scores & Audio Library to review songs, scores, and audio.
• Change audio or timeline per song: open Item Settings.
• Check performance controls and display behavior: see Score Viewer, Score Viewer Display Menu, and Annotation Palette.
• No sound, or sound comes from the wrong place: check output destination, mute, and volume in Mixer Settings.
• Click and screen timing do not line up: see Output Device Latency.
• Send or receive data: use Send Song, Send Setlist, or Receive Share.
• Move everything to a new device: use App Data Backup / Restore. This is different from sharing.

Getting Started

1. In Setlist List, create a setlist for each show or rehearsal.
2. In Setlist Detail, add songs from files or photos and arrange the running order.
3. Add Setlist Memos or fine-tune songs in Item Settings as needed.
4. In Score Viewer, verify page turning, timeline behavior, annotations, and the metronome.

Preparing

• Setlist List: Create setlists per performance and organize them with search and tags.
• Setlist Detail: Add songs and memos, reorder them, and access sharing and Conductor sync.
• Setlist Memos: Add MC notes, breaks, instrument changes, and other non-song cues into the running order.
• Item Settings: Set page range, audio, timeline, tempo, and display options per song.
• Scores & Audio Library: Find and reuse prepared songs, imported scores, and audio.

Performing

• Score Viewer: Read scores and handle page turning, annotations, and timeline operations during a show.
• Score Viewer Display Menu: Change annotation visibility, timeline display, display pattern, and auto-follow in place.
• Annotation Palette: Use pen, highlighter, eraser, shape recognition, and Stylus Only behavior.
• Global Settings: Adjust app-wide display options, tap behavior, appearance, the metronome, and backup.
• Timeline Settings: Adjust timeline display, stop behavior, and editing aids.
• Conductor Sync Settings: Fine-tune follower behavior and Local Conductor hosting settings.
• Text Page Settings: Set fonts, margins, and the ChordPro layout preset for text pages.
• Text Page Editor: Edit and preview ChordPro or text page content.

Supporting Screens

• Global Search: Search across scores, audio, and setlists and navigate to any result.
• Bulk Tag Editor: Add or remove tags across multiple items at once.
• Score Setup: Set the name and tags of a newly imported score.
• Choose Where to Add From: Choose whether an item comes from outside the app, from the library, or from creating it in the app.
• Choose Existing Song Or Score: Find prepared songs or library scores and reuse them.
• Conductor Scan: Search for and connect to PagePilot Conductor.
• Conductor Setlist Mapping: Review the song number mapping on the Conductor side.
• Mixer Settings: Set the output destination for audio and the metronome.
• Output Device Latency: Correct timing mismatch between the click you hear and the screen you see.
• ChordPro Layout: Switch the ChordPro layout preset on the fly.
• Metronome Settings: Adjust metronome behavior from within the performance screen.
• Piano Keyboard: Use a simple on-screen keyboard overlaid on your score.
• MIDI Device Picker: Search for and connect an external MIDI device.
• Timeline Cue Detail: Edit the position, page, and tempo reference for a timeline cue.

Sharing & Organizing

• Receive Share: Receive shared data via QR code or archive file.
• Send Song: Share a single song's score, audio, timeline, and annotations.
• Send Setlist: Share an entire setlist with multiple songs in one bundle.
• App Data Backup / Restore: Save or restore the whole app as a .ppbk file before moving devices or doing a major cleanup.
• Trash: Restore or permanently delete removed scores, audio, songs, and timelines.

What This App Can and Cannot Do

• Create a setlist for each show and manage the running order exactly as you need it.
• Add short running-order memos for MCs, breaks, and instrument changes between songs.
• Use PDF files as well as text pages and ChordPro as scores.
• Combine audio and timelines to prepare song-specific page-turn behavior.
• Use annotations, the metronome, and a simple MIDI keyboard while viewing scores.
• Sync with PagePilot Conductor so the display follows your DAW's playback position.
• If "Edit on Another Device" is available in Settings and a supported destination is available, continue editing your library and setlists across your own devices. iOS and iPadOS use the app's private iCloud area; Android uses a SAF destination selected by the user.

The current manual does not describe the following as provided features:

• Automatically transposing the content of a PDF score.
• Real-time collaborative editing by multiple users.
• Direct cross-platform synchronization between iOS/iPadOS and Android.
• Resolving conflicting changes from multiple devices automatically without asking the user.

If you cannot find a feature, it may be unimplemented or outside the current scope. When in doubt, start from the closest goal page and check whether it belongs to sharing, backup, timelines, or display settings.

When in Doubt

• To add a new song, open Setlist Detail.
• To organize source scores or audio, open Scores & Audio Library.
• To change how things look during a show, check Global Settings.
• To change the display for just one song, check the display settings in Item Settings.
• If you cannot find a song or file, use Global Search.
