Store large score, audio, and annotation files in internal storage or PagePilot's private area on an SD card.
Android Data Storage Location
Android Data Storage Location
On Android, you can choose one location for large score, audio, and annotation files. The database and storage-location setting always remain in the device's internal storage.
The choices are:
- Internal Storage — PagePilot's private area on the device. This is the default.
- SD Card — PagePilot's private area created by Android on the card. You cannot choose an arbitrary shared folder.
Storage cannot be assigned per file. Changing the location safely copies the complete assets tree as one unit.
Important Checks Before Changing the Location
Read the warning shown before you start.
- Create an App Data Backup first.
- Do not remove the SD card or power off the device while copying.
- PagePilot's normal features are unavailable while the selected card is disconnected.
- Formatting an SD card changes its filesystem UUID. Even the same physical card is then recognized as a different storage location, and PagePilot cannot automatically open the previous data.
- Removing PagePilot or clearing its app data in Android Settings may also delete PagePilot's private data on the SD card.
- An SD card is not a substitute for a backup.
How the Change Is Kept Safe
PagePilot leaves the original files in place while copying them to the new location. It verifies file count, size, and SHA-256 before switching the active location. If anything fails before that switch, the original location remains active.
The app restarts after the switch. On startup, it checks the new location again before deleting the old copy.
If “SD Card Not Found” Appears
Connect the registered card and select Try Again. PagePilot does not silently switch to internal storage when a different card is connected. This prevents the database from opening while its score and audio files are missing.
If the card cannot be used, you can restore a complete backup to internal storage. Restore replaces the current app data.
