Settle How the Score Looks, and Write on It
Changing the look mid-show is the thing to avoid. Some switches take a moment to take effect, so decide them by the end of the rehearsal.
Decide First
Everything at once, or this one song? Everything is Global Settings; one song is the display override in Item Settings. The same options exist in both, and the song wins.
The Order
- Set the defaults — Global Settings: layout, default zoom, appearance, tap zones.
- Write on the score — Annotation Palette: pen, highlighter, stamps, text labels.
- Choose the on-stage layout — Score Display Menu: single page, continuous scroll or long score, scroll direction, whether markings show.
- Override the exceptions — Item Settings.
When It Does Not Work
- Touching the edge turns the page by accident — switch edge taps off under tap zones in Global Settings
- Markings vanished, or came back on their own — "Show or hide markings" in the Score Display Menu, and the section below it
- Hard to read on a dark stage — appearance and colour inversion in Global Settings; inversion takes a moment, so try it before the show
- One song looks different — its display override in Item Settings
