Scores, MusicXML & Audio Library

The Scores, MusicXML & Audio Library is where you find and reuse prepared songs, imported scores, registered MusicXML, and audio. When you remove a song from a setlist, the original song, score, MusicXML, and audio can still remain here.

New songs are usually created from Setlist Detail when you add files or photos. Use Songs when you want to reuse preparation you made before, Scores when you need the PDF or image itself, MusicXML when you want to create another score from MusicXML, and Audio when you need to check an audio file.

Which Tab To Use

• Songs tab — review and reuse the performance context that combines a score, optional audio, and timeline preparation.
• Scores tab — find the visual material itself, such as PDFs, images, and text pages.
• MusicXML tab — find registered MusicXML and create a new score from its full score or a part.
• Audio tab — check playback files such as backing tracks, reference audio, and click-related material.

You can also edit names and tags, move items to Trash, permanently delete items, and receive shared data into your library. MusicXML is searched and sorted by its original file name; this tab does not offer name or tag editing. The main place to create new songs is still Setlist Detail.

Songs Tab

The Songs tab lists prepared songs that combine a score, optional audio, and timeline information. Use it when you want to reuse the same prepared song in another setlist, or duplicate one song so you can try a different setup. Tapping a song opens it in the score viewer, and the menu lets you duplicate it or move it to Trash.

In this app, a song is not just an audio file. It is the performance-ready bundle of which score to use, which page range to show, and which audio or timeline belongs with it. That is why song cards show duration, timeline cue count, score name, and audio name.

Duplicating a song lets you try a different preparation while reusing the same score. For example, you can make a normal version and a shortened version from the same PDF, attach a different audio file, or rebuild only the timeline.

Moving a song to Trash does not immediately delete the source score, MusicXML, or audio file. It removes that prepared song. To organize the underlying material, check the Scores, MusicXML, and Audio tabs. Songs used in setlists must be removed from those setlists before you delete them.

Scores Tab

The Scores tab lists every score you have imported. Use search, tags, and sorting to find the score you need and reuse it across setlists. When a score is used by songs, the score menu can open those songs.

Items on the Scores tab are the source score files. Even if several songs use the same score, the score file itself is managed here as one reusable material item. From a score card's menu, you can edit its name and tags, duplicate it, or move it to Trash.

Scores currently in use cannot be moved to Trash or permanently deleted, because that would break songs or setlists. When you want to open a song that uses the score, use "Open Song" from the score menu and choose from the songs that reference it.

Audio Tab

The Audio tab is where you manage the audio files associated with your songs. You can play them back right here to check before organizing, making it easy to track down "which audio was for this song again?"

Audio is managed independently from scores. Clean up names, tags, and reference volume here so the file is easy to find when linking it to a song. Tap an audio card to preview it, and stop playback from the inline player. If you delete audio that is used by songs, PagePilot asks first and then detaches the audio from those songs. Restoring the audio from Trash does not automatically restore the song links.

MusicXML Tab

The MusicXML tab lists registered MusicXML as independent source assets. Search by file name and sort by file name or date added to find the MusicXML you need.

Tap an item, or choose Create Score from its menu, then choose the full score or a part to create a new score. To add the resulting score to a setlist and make it a song, see Choose Where to Add From.

The usual deletion action for MusicXML is Move to Trash. Restoring it from Trash returns it to the MusicXML tab. Delete Permanently deletes the registered MusicXML source and cannot be undone.

Importing Files

The add button in the bottom right changes its role depending on which tab is open. It adds a score on the Scores tab, MusicXML on the MusicXML tab, and audio on the Audio tab. The Songs tab has no add button. New songs are created when you add a file or photo from Setlist Detail, or when you duplicate an existing song. To reuse a prepared song in another setlist, use Existing Song from Setlist Detail. Right after importing a score, the Score Import Setup dialog may open so you can set the name and tags straight away. You can also register new MusicXML from MusicXML File under From Files or Photos in Setlist Detail.

Importing from cloud storage

Scores kept in iCloud Drive, Google Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive, and similar services can be picked straight from the file picker—there is no need to save a local copy in the cloud app first.

The setup is a one-time step.

• iPad / iPhone (iOS) — Install and sign in to the cloud's official app (for example Google Drive), then open the Files app, and on the top level of Browse tap "⋯" in the upper right → "Edit Sidebar" and turn that cloud on.
• Android — Install and sign in to the cloud's official app, then pick that cloud from the menu in the upper left of the import file picker (document selection).

When you pick a file stored in the cloud, it downloads to your device automatically. A slow connection or a large PDF may take a moment.

Deleting and Freeing Storage

The normal delete action moves an item to Trash. You can restore it from Trash, but it does not free device storage right away.

To free storage, choose Delete Permanently from a card menu. Permanent deletion cannot be undone. Scores and songs cannot be permanently deleted while they are used by songs or setlists. MusicXML can be permanently deleted from its menu on the MusicXML tab. MusicXML moved to Trash can also be permanently deleted there. Audio can be detached from songs and deleted after you confirm the impact.

Receiving Shared Data

You can also open Receive Share from this screen. It is handy when you want to bring scores or audio sent from another device directly into your library.

If You Get Stuck

• If you cannot find material you want to add to a setlist, check this screen to confirm the file was actually imported. For MusicXML, confirm that it is registered on the MusicXML tab.
• If you want to reuse a prepared song in another setlist, confirm that it exists on the Songs tab, then use Existing Song from Setlist Detail.
• If the same score appears to have several songs, check the Songs tab to see which audio or timeline each one uses.
• To make another score from MusicXML, open it on the MusicXML tab and choose its full score or a part.
• If you deleted a file and want it back, check the Trash.
