Conductor Scan

Use Conductor when several performers want their own scores to follow the same song position. You do not need a connection just to read a score on one device.

To follow DAW playback, use an external PagePilot Conductor. To synchronize Viewers with one another, make one device with a populated setlist the Local Conductor, then connect the others to it. Local Conductor does not connect to or control a DAW.

Prepare Each Device Before Connecting

Conductor sends song numbers and elapsed song time. It does not send score files, the displayed page number, cues, or display settings. Prepare each Viewer's own part and automatic page turns for that score. Different scores and cues can follow the same song number and elapsed time.

For LAN, connect the devices to the same Wi-Fi or wired LAN. Even a matching network name may not be enough on guest Wi-Fi or other networks that block communication between devices.

Connect and Check One Song

1. Select Connect to Conductor in Setlist Detail, or the Conductor button at the top of the score viewer. The sheet's heading is Connect to Conductor.
2. Choose BLE or LAN under Connection Type. For Local Conductor, use the same method on the parent and children.
3. Check the other device's name in the list and select Connect. The sheet closes when the connection succeeds.
4. Check song numbers in Conductor Setlist Mapping, then play one song on the host. On the child, check that the intended song opens and pages turn at the cues you prepared.

A connection does not mean all required songs and cues are ready. Make this check on each performance device before the show.

Make This Viewer the Local Conductor

When opened from a setlist, the sheet has a Become Local Conductor row below the list. Choose Connection Type first, then select this row. Its description tells you whether it will start with BLE or LAN.

Once hosting begins, the heading changes to Local Conductor Active. You can check Name shown to Viewers and the number of following Viewers. On each child, connect to that name using the steps above. Change the name with Device Name in Global Settings.

With children connected, the parent and children start sounding together about 1 second after you press play on the parent. This wait gives the children time to prepare for the same start time. With no child connected, playback starts right away.

To finish hosting, select Stop Local Conductor. While hosting, the connection-method selector is hidden and other Conductors show Stop first. Stop hosting before changing the connection destination.

If the Host Is Missing or the Connection Fails

During discovery, BLE shows Looking for nearby Conductors... and LAN shows Looking for Conductors on this LAN.... Changing Connection Type starts a new search using that method.

• Not found with BLE: Check that the host is running, both devices use the same method, and they are close enough. Select Retry. The list's Strong signal, Good signal, or Weak signal label is a guide to BLE signal strength.
• Not found with LAN: Check that the devices use the same Wi-Fi or LAN. If the sheet asks you to connect to Wi-Fi or wired LAN, or says local network access is not allowed, correct that connection or permission and select Retry. LAN entries do not show signal strength.
• “Could not connect to (name).”: Check that the host is still broadcasting, then select Connect again or use Retry.

If a connection is lost, or you want to check another page temporarily, open Connection Status from the Conductor status indicator at the top of the score viewer. Sync stops while the app is in the background; returning to it resyncs to the latest state.
