PagePilot Viewer Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 25, 2026

Katsushi Kawato ("we", "us") provides this Privacy Policy for the sheet-music viewer app "PagePilot Viewer" (the "App"), describing how the App handles your information.

1. Information We Collect

The App does not collect any personal information such as your name, email address, account credentials, or location. Using the App requires no account and no sign-in.

By default, all data handled by the App — scores, setlists, annotations, and settings — is stored only on your device. None of it is transmitted to or stored on our servers, and we cannot access it. Only if you turn on Edit on Other Devices is this data also stored in your own cloud area (see Section 3).

Deleting the App from your device removes that on-device data, and because we hold none of it, there is nothing stored with us that you would need to ask us to delete.

2. Use of Device Features

The App uses the following device features solely for the purposes described below. We do not collect, retain, or share any information obtained through these features.

  • Camera: Used only to scan a QR code shown on another device in order to receive shared scores. No photos or videos are taken or stored.
  • Bluetooth: Used to connect to MIDI instruments, to PagePilot Conductor running alongside a DAW, and to other PagePilot Viewer devices you are keeping in sync.
  • Local Network (Wi-Fi): Used to transfer scores and setlists directly to devices on the same network, and to discover and connect to PagePilot Conductor or other PagePilot Viewer devices. This exchange stays between devices on the same network and never passes through an external server.
  • Photo Library: Used so you can select photos of your sheet music and add them as scores. Selected images are stored only on your device and are never sent to an external server.
  • Location (Android 11 and earlier only): On Android 11 and earlier, the OS requires the location permission in order to scan for Bluetooth devices. We use it for nothing other than finding Bluetooth devices, and we neither obtain nor retain location data. Android 12 and later do not ask for it.

3. Communication with External Services

We run no servers of our own, and the App never sends usage data or your content to us automatically. The resources it needs to run, including display fonts, are bundled with the App, so it does not contact an external server to fetch them. External communication happens only where you choose it:

  • Edit on Other Devices: When you turn this on, the synced data is stored in the app's private iCloud area on iOS / iPadOS, or in the cloud location you select on Android. That location is your own; we cannot access it. Handling on each service is governed by that provider's terms and privacy policy.
  • Sharing or storing through another service: If you choose to share or store score data through another service (such as a cloud storage provider), that handling is governed by that service's own terms and privacy policy and is outside the scope of this Policy.
  • Links that open external pages: The App can open our public site or support pages in your device's browser.

How the App handles information when you choose to share diagnostic information is described in Section 4.

4. Sharing Diagnostic Information (Optional)

The App includes a feature that lets you share diagnostic information to help investigate problems. It runs only when you explicitly choose to use it in the settings screen; the App never sends this information automatically.

  • A diagnostic report may include, for example, the app version, your device's OS type and version, and internal runtime logs (records of screen transitions and processing, internal identifiers, and error information). It does not include the contents of your scores, setlists, or text, nor file names or song titles.
  • You choose the destination through your device's share feature. Please review the contents before you share, and choose where to send it. We receive a report only if you send it to us, and we use it solely to investigate problems.

5. Analytics, Advertising, and Tracking

The App performs no usage analytics, serves no advertising, and does not allow any third-party tracking. It does not access the advertising identifier (IDFA) or perform cross-app tracking.

6. Children's Privacy

Because the App collects no personal information, it is safe to use for users of all ages.

7. Use from Outside Japan

Because the App collects no personal data, the same handling applies regardless of your country or region. Even where regulations such as the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) apply, there is no personal data that we process or store.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may revise this Policy as needed. If we make a material change, we will announce it on this page.

9. Contact

For questions about this Policy, please use our contact form.

For the terms that govern use of the App, please see the Terms of Use.
