The route to keeping devices on the same song and position, starting from the fork: follow a DAW, or follow another Viewer.

Follow the Same Musical Position Across Devices or a DAW

Conductor lets musicians follow the same song and position while each reads their own part. You do not need a Conductor connection just to read a score or play backing audio on your own.

It sends song numbers and positions, not score files or page numbers. Prepare the music and part-specific page-turn setup on each device first.

Choose What to Follow

Follow You need
A DAW's playback position An external PagePilot Conductor between the DAW and Viewer
Another Viewer's performance position One Viewer acting as Local Conductor and the others following it as children

See Connect to Conductor for preparation and connection. Viewer-to-Viewer following does not require a DAW.

Start with One Song

  1. Prepare the song and score on each device and check song-number mapping. Make sure the same number does not point to different songs.
  2. Follow Connect to Conductor: prepare the sender, then connect from the followers. BLE and LAN require different connection environments.
  3. Start one song from the sender. Check that each device opens that song and its own score follows the planned positions. Use Connection Status to check following.
  4. Then try changing songs. Use Conductor Settings only if you need to adjust behavior such as timing.

With children connected to Local Conductor, parent and children begin sounding together about one second after Play is pressed on the parent. Rehearse the entry with this delay in mind.
